Features
-
Reinforced Construction
The original Song Jian design used a threaded pommel construction. We upgraded it to a traditional copper peg structure, with the copper peg passing through the tang, wooden grip, and pommel to secure all three together for maximum structural reliability.
The original screw opening is concealed with a red gemstone for improved aesthetics. -
Ebony Handle & Scabbard
The handle and scabbard are crafted from genuine ebony wood, which gradually develops a rich natural patina over time.
The scabbard fittings are additionally reinforced with small copper pins, preventing loosening even if the wood naturally contracts with age or climate changes. -
Copper Fittings
The plain copper fittings are produced using precision steel-mold casting, offering both high structural strength and excellent detailing accuracy.
Blade Performance
The blade uses the same forged wide-tang manganese steel construction found in the Ming Lotus Song Jian, a mature and proven design known for balanced hardness, flexibility, and toughness without major compromises.
In handling, the sword feels tight and lively while still maintaining flexibility. Despite being a broad and relatively heavy Jian, it produces a distinct cutting whistle during swings. Cutting impacts transmit responsive feedback into the palm without causing excessive shock or numbness.
